Information Science and Dental Documentation
Professional leadership at SDO/FOUSP connects specialized library services with scientific communication and access to research information in Dentistry.

Lúcia Maria Sebastiana Verônica Costa Ramos is a librarian and information scientist whose career connects dental documentation, scholarly communication, scientific-information networks, and the evaluation and dissemination of research. She earned her PhD in Information Science (2015) and MSc in Culture and Information (2010) from the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo (ECA-USP), following a bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science from the Fundação Escola de Sociologia e Política de São Paulo (FESPSP, 1981). Her doctoral research examined the role of scientific-information networks in teaching and learning through virtual environments.
At the School of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo (FOUSP), she serves as Technical Head of the Dental Documentation Service (SDO). FOUSP describes her work in the management of specialized information services and in the dissemination and organization of scientific information in Dentistry.
Relevant professional authority. Her appointment draws on three directly relevant strands of experience: doctoral training in Information Science at ECA-USP, institutional leadership at SDO/FOUSP, and documented work in scientific-information networks and scholarly-journal evaluation.
Her institutional and scholarly trajectory is particularly relevant to journals that depend on reliable discovery, transparent documentation, appropriate references, and clear methods for locating and selecting evidence.

Her documented work includes coordinating BVS Odontologia Brasil; the Lattes record notes the network’s certification in 2010. This experience links specialized dental documentation with scientific-information discovery and dissemination.
For JDHAB, her methodological review focuses on the clarity and coherence of the methods reported in a manuscript, including:
This specialist assessment supports the editors’ evaluation; it does not transfer editorial decision-making authority to the reviewer.
A 2021 professional interview documents her work with the BVS Odontologia Brasil network, research related to scientific production, and technical evaluation of journals for inclusion in the Brazilian Dentistry Database (BBO) and LILACS. These are presented as documented experience at the time of that interview.
This experience in scientific-information systems and journal assessment complements her academic training in Information Science and leadership in a university dental documentation service.
These selected works document her sustained contribution to scientific communication, information networks, scholarly publishing, and research discovery. The collection includes a recent book chapter, doctoral research, edited volumes, a journal article, and a scholarly book chapter.
With Rubenildo Oliveira da Costa. Chapter 7 (pp. 223–242) in Monitoramento, infraestruturas e tecnologias: novos desafios na comunicação científica, organized by Rogério Mugnaini and Fernando Modesto (EDUFBA, 2024). The chapter examines how institutional repositories can extend preservation and access functions through relational indicators that strengthen the visibility and assessment of scientific production.

As a Scientific Methodology Reviewer in the 2026 reviewer group, Lúcia Costa Ramos provides independent methodological assessment when her expertise is appropriate to an assignment. Her background is especially relevant to search and selection methods, evidence synthesis, bibliographic quality, and the relationship between methodology and conclusions.
Reviewer recognition documents peer-review service. Reviewers provide assessments and recommendations to the journal’s scientific editors; final editorial decisions remain with the editors. Assignments are managed with attention to expertise, availability, and competing interests.
Scientific reviewer profile maintained by the Journal of Digital Health and Advanced Biomaterials (JDHAB). Reviewer recognition does not constitute a standing editorial appointment or responsibility for final editorial decisions. Biographical details and selected scholarly contributions are linked to institutional and published sources.
