Getting Started

From Invitation to Submitted Review

  1. Respond to the invitation. Check the topic, response deadline and review deadline. Accept or decline through your invitation link or OJS. Tell the editor about any competing interests or limitations in your expertise.
  2. Read the review materials. After accepting, consult the assigned manuscript, supplementary files, instructions and review form. If a file is missing or inaccessible, contact the editor.
  3. Prepare a constructive assessment. Explain the manuscript’s contribution, identify major issues and give specific, evidence-based suggestions. Distinguish essential revisions from minor corrections.
  4. Submit through OJS. Complete the assigned form and recommendation. Keep comments intended for the authors separate from confidential comments to the editor. Contact the editor early if you need more time.

Follow the dates in your invitation. Response and review deadlines are set for each assignment. If you cannot participate, a prompt decline helps the editor find another reviewer.

Editorial Foundation

The Role of Peer Review

Peer review is an essential component of JDHAB's editorial process. Qualified reviewers provide independent scholarly assessments that support the scientific quality, clarity, transparency and reliability of submitted work.

Reviewers evaluate the contribution of a manuscript, the appropriateness of its methods, the interpretation of findings and the consistency between evidence and conclusions. Their recommendations inform editorial decisions; final decisions remain the responsibility of the journal's editors.

Reviewer Standards

Responsibilities and Integrity

JDHAB expects reviewers to conduct assessments with scientific competence, professional respect and independence. Reviewers should accept invitations only when they have relevant expertise and sufficient availability.

Scientific Competence Evaluate the manuscript within the limits of one's expertise, with attention to methodology, evidence and reporting quality.
Independence and Transparency Disclose actual or potential competing interests, including relevant institutional, professional, financial or personal relationships.
Confidentiality Protect unpublished manuscripts, research information and editorial correspondence. Do not disclose confidential material to unauthorized persons or external AI services.
Constructive Evaluation Provide respectful, specific and evidence-based comments, identifying strengths, limitations and revisions where appropriate.
Editorial Workflow

Invitations and Editorial Independence

Reviewers are invited according to the subject of the manuscript, their scientific expertise, independence, availability and the journal's editorial requirements.

JDHAB uses double-anonymized peer review. Preserve anonymity in your comments and any uploaded report, including the filename and document properties. Do not contact authors directly about an assigned manuscript; direct questions to the responsible editor through OJS.

Participation in the editorial or advisory structure of JDHAB does not automatically prevent an individual from serving as a reviewer. Relevant affiliations and competing interests must be disclosed and evaluated by the responsible editor.
